Welcome
May 2013
Dear Seattle DukeEngage Students,
It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to Seattle for your summer DukeEngage experience in our fine city! This is the sixth year of DukeEngage in Seattle. We know you will have a memorable and meaningful experience here as you partake of your non-profit work and the enrichment activities planned throughout the summer.
Perhaps you have already perused or purchased a Seattle guidebook; if not—or even if you have—we wanted to offer some of our personal recommendations for what we think are especially fun activities and sites to see, experiences to have, and restaurants to try while you are here. The lists that follow are a compilation of the recommendations provided by members of our DukeEngage Alumni Committee, and in some cases include comments.
Also included in the packet is contact information for those of us on the Alumni Committee, as well as the list of Alumni Partners. Please feel free to reach out to us at any time should you have questions or need some local expertise.
A couple of other notes:
· The Seattle Times Summer Guide is a great resource. It can be found at seattletimes.com/summerguide (as of this writing, the guide has not been updated for 2013).
· The Seattle Recreational Walking Map may be useful to orient you to the city and its neighborhoods. You can find it at http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/walk_map.htm
We look forward to getting to know you, and wish you all the best this summer!
Sincerely,
The Seattle DukeEngage Alumni Steering Committee
